Named the ‘Red Devils’ not because of their red berets, but after battles in North Africa where stormy weather covered the British Paratroopers in red clay, the regiment took part in numerous engagements in the Second World War, including Operation Biting, Operation Slapstick, Battle of Arnhem & Operation Doomsday.
